I need to make this quick so I can get to bed. We got an Embassy appointment for next Wednesday afternoon. They assure me that it should not be a problem for us to still leave on Friday night, the 8th. We probably won’t get Mercy’s visa until that Friday morning. We’ve turned in all of the preliminary paperwork to help speed up the process. Pray for this to work out. I’m ready to be home and Emma and Avery are ready for me to be home too.
We picked up Mercy’s passport today. If I wasn’t exhausted I would try to post a picture. It will make for a fun keepsake someday. I don’t know what I expected the Ugandan Passport office to look like, but this place did not meet any of my expectations. It was in a rundown compound and you had to wait outside under a covering with lots of other people until a person came out and called your name. Thankfully, I only had to wait about an hour. It seemed some people had been waiting there for a very long time.
Tomorrow morning we are getting on a big bus and heading to Mbale. I can’t believe I’ve been here 5 weeks and have not made a trip there yet. I am very excited to see Pastor Wilber, his family, and Pearl Haven Church. I’m also excited that all of the Howards are coming along. I’ve talked so much about how fabulous Mbale is they want to see it for themselves. They will also get to go meet our friend John Mary’s family. Also, on Saturday, Cody and I will go tour Dr. Patrick’s clinic, the village where Mercy’s lived for the past year, and then also her parent’s village. At her parents’ village we’ll get to see her uncle again, meet her siblings, and many, many cousins. Pray for these visits to go well and for us to get some great information and pictures to share with Mercy one day. Also pray that it’s not too traumatic or confusing for her to go back to see Nurse Anna.
