Reminders and Questions

Just a reminder for those of you wanting to stay up-to-date on our journey... you can sign up to receive each blog post in an email.  Just sign up with your email address by clicking the the link on the right side of this page.  You'll be asked to enter your info, then they'll send you a confirmation email, and you just click on it to accept.  This will send you an email each evening (approx 9pm CST) of all of the blog posts from that day.

Also, I'm still accepting donations for mosquito nets or mama kits.  You can do that by clicking the PayPal link on the right side.  I will be buying the supplies next week.  I'm waiting for my contact to get back in town before buying everything.  Hopefully it will all be ready to deliver to Mercy's village by the weekend of the 2nd.  Just put a note with the donation stating what you would like it to go towards.  Thanks again!

Ok, I would love to hear from you... whoever it is that read's this blog.  What would you like to know about adoption, my family's journey, life in Uganda, etc.? I'm just curious to see what interests all of you or what details information I may be leaving out.  Ask away and I'll do my best to answer.  You can leave a question in the comments on here, email me, or facebook.
And you may want to scroll through last week's blog posts.  I added a few photos.  I finally got some to load. Oh the joys of Africa!

  1. Melissa, we are so excited about this journey that you and Cody have taken. I have always had a heart for adoption. We look at your pictures and read your blogs every chance we get. We are praying for you and I was so glad to hear that you finally saw a judge. The last posting of your no show, prompted me to really begin intercessory prayer for you. God is hearing and is answering in mighty ways. I want you to know that we are so overjoyed for you and are lifting you up!!!!! love, Wendy and family

  2. Wow, it is amazing to see, how one family adopting a child can have such an impact on so many people. I’m sure going into this you didn’t think about how wide spread your story would go. You have blessed me by your words and I am sure many others in more ways then you know. Thank you for writing this blog it is a highlight in my day. I feel so lucky just knowing you all and calling you my friends!

  3. Have your friends that had their case heard on the 7th received a ruling yet? I've been wondering about them :)

  4. Thanks ladies for your sweet words and your prayers. That's the only reason I've been able to get through this last month.

Beth- I'm so excited to tell you that my friends will be on a plane early tomorrow to head home. They've been waiting more than a year for this moment and I'm so excited that their family will all be together finally. Thanks for asking.

  5. How is Mercy doing with the bonding process? Is she affectionate (seems like it from your posts), does she make good eye contact? Is she starting to realize you are the most important person in her life at the present time? I am praying so hard for this time.

  6. Stephanie- I'm glad to report that bonding is going much better than I ever could have imagined. Mercy gives hugs and kisses, looks straight in my eyes, and if she gets hurt she will look for me. She also looks to see if I'm paying attention when she's doing something naughty too. She acts much like any toddler. =) She is very quiet and reserved when in a new setting, but that's certainly normal considering the changes she's undergone in the past two months. She's in a whole new world now, and that will only continue when we get home.

  7. Melissa, that's wonderful! That is truly a testiment to the wonderful care she has recieved in your absense. I teared up when I read it. She is doing things that took my two years to do. What an answer to prayer! I miss you very much and can't wait until you get back to hear the whole report (when things settle down). I also have stuff for miss Mercy as well. I will keep praying for you guys in the meantime. BTW, what a heart melting smile that little one has!
