Thank you so much for all of your sweet words of encouragement and your prayers. Today has been a much better day for me… at least emotionally. I am not in “panic mode” as much and I am starting to feel hopeful.
I got to meet an amazing woman who I’ve emailed and “met” online months ago. She’s helped to bring more than 15 families stuck in the system home with their sweet children from Uganda this year. Now she’s finally here to get her own three children. It was very encouraging to meet this woman and her precious family. She is also travelling with a film crew from the US making a documentary on adoption in Uganda. So I got interviewed too. It was sort of fun and reminded me of my former life as a news producer. Part of me hopes to see this film someday, and the other part of me remembers how badly my hair needs a cut/color, how quickly I got ready this morning, and how close-up he kept getting with that camera.
Then I had lunch with a fellow adoptive mother, Heather. It’s always nice to meet someone else going through the process. It was also nice to see that her daughter makes nearly as big of a mess at restaurants as Mercy. I got really excited during lunch when the waiter brought out a caddy of ketchup and A1 steak sauce. I had ordered a roast beef sandwich and I thought it would be great to put some A1 on it. For some reason, I decided I should probably taste a bit of the sauce before dousing it on my food. It was not A1… tasted like cheap barbecue sauce. But it made me laugh and I haven’t had barbecue sauce in a long time so it tasted pretty good.
Then tonight, I went to the guest house where another adoptive mom is staying with her family. Colleen used to live about 5 minutes away from me and we know many of the same people. She just recently moved to a different part of Kansas, but it was so nice to finally meet her and hang out for a bit and see her precious boys. Heather (from lunch) came over too. We even had some yummy cake for dessert that almost tasted like home.
All in all, it was a good day. Praying for a good report on Monday or at least some clear direction on our next step. I am so very grateful for all of you. Your prayers and notes helped to get me through today with a smile on my face. Keep ‘em coming!
